I have long hair and I have a problem with towels...in some hotels they put two towels, in others they put only one, so I started saving them in the closet and let the ladies put more every day, and at the end of the stay I put all the towels on top of the unused bed.

As for shampoo, I usually go buy a bottle because in some hotels the shampoo bottles let my hair not good.
